I did rabies, DHLPP, bordetella (daycare and boarding), and Lyme. We live in Delaware and the ticks have been terrible this summer, only wish my horse and I could’ve gotten it too.
I do rabies every 3 yrs, and distemper/parvo combo, lyme, and bordatella every year.
Was actually at the vet this morning with the puppy getting his 1yr shots. He thinks the lyme and the bordatella vaccines are worthless. I have to have bordatella because he goes to daycare. I did the lyme anyway because it is becoming increasingly common in this area.
I use the soresto collar and he said he thinks that does more for preventing lyme than the vaccine.
I’ve considered lepto but I live in the city and my dogs are inside dogs. I’ll probably give it if they start trail riding with us.
Same here. We don’t board our dog, but she does go out with a dog hiker, and dogs I don’t always know, a couple of times a week. There was a big parvo outbreak in the city next door last year. I know the Lyme vaccine is only somewhat effective, but we are completely OVERRUN with deer, mice (the vector) and deer ticks on our property and Lyme is endemic here, so any little bit helps. Wish they had something for people, there was, in 2002. Thanks a lot, anti-vaccers :(.
