What is a good senior dog food?

I’m going to switch my two 11 year old dogs to a senior food and I’m looking for recommendations. I talked to the vet who suggested Nutrisource, Blue, or Taste of the Wild. Any others? Any to stay away from? They both tend to have sensitive stomachs so I was thinking of trying one of the grain free varieties. Thanks in advance!

My 14 yr old dog is doing very well on Orijen Senior.
My doberman (younger) can’t take the higher quality foods or his sensitive stomach gets the runs, so you’d have to see how yours fair with the more ‘rich’ food.

I feed my younger (3) dog Taste of the Wild, but I don’t think they make a “senior” food. My old dog has done just fine eating IAMS weight management; she needed a low fat diet after funny pancreatic #'s some years ago. She’s a chow/shep mix pushing 14, not hearing so well, but otherwise in pretty good shape.

Both dogs get canned food “topping”.

I have an 11 year old lab mix who adores her Nutro Ultra Senior Dog Food.

I think senior foods are more a marketing ploy than anything else.

Make sure whatever you’re feeding has enough protein. Senior foods are usually marketed as being lower in protein, which is not necessary unless the dog has a specific problem. Senior dogs need just as much protein, if not more, than any other adult dog.
