I was browsing through COTH’s photos from Aiken and came upon this one:
I can’t tell what it is that Mr. Russell is wearing over his jacket (unless it is the pattern of his jacket)- is it a vest or brace of some kind, does anyone know? I have never seen the like before and it caught my eye.
It’s a “brace” because he has some old injury that causes his shoulder to dislocate easily (I believe). He has been wearing it for as long as I have known him I think.
Ouch! That injury sounds hard to deal with. I hope the brace continues to do its job for him!
Yep… I’ve seen him at shows for more than 20 years and it’s a part of who he is. I was always told the same thing… It keeps his shoulder from dislocating.

Thanks for asking, I was wondering the same thing 
I am a dear friend of Vick’s. He has made that part of his 20 year riding life. He has also been a great supporter of all young people, We used to have a joke that it was his “breeding halter”. Vick is today the best.

but his shoulder easily dislocates - thus the amazing brace
doesn’t keep him from being formidable!!!
