I haven’t had a boarder’s horse that needed extra care in a long time. My new boarder’s horse had a tick bite that caused cellulitis in a hind leg while the owner is away. I am quite well versed in handling these sort of things but rarely have had to for a boarders horse. She is paying regular board, not rehab board so I am not sure what the going rate is for charging for giving meds, wrapping, holding for the vet (3 times so far). I will be billing her for bandaging material used. I am in northern Virginia. What is the going rate?
I’m local and pay $25/visit if barn staff hold for vet/farrier/etc, $10/day for med administration (and I pay for meds), and $15 for poultice/wrap (again, I supply poultice).
