Was wondering what the going rate is for body clipping horses and ponies? This would be a full show clip.
Depends on the area, etc. Anywhere from $75 to $150+. I just charged someone $80 to full-clip a pony, with the owner’s clippers. It was not a “show quality” clip, but it wasn’t terrible.
$150 here for a show clip.
I charge $175 for a show clip. I use my own clippers and blades. I’m located in the very horsey NoVA area, for comparison’s sake.
$175- West Tennessee
$175 here
150 show clip, Nor Cal.
The last two I had done here in Middle TN were $100.
$150 here in Michigan… and we clip a LOT
I charge $150, but the horse has to be clean. If I have to give a bath, it goes up to $175. I really try to discourage the latter option! (This is in NorCal.)
Ponies are $125 ($150 w/bath).

Forgot to add, this includes bathing beforehand.
$120 for full body, show quality clip. $90 for ponies. I’m currently at an eventing barn in Northern California where I do a lot of trace and blanket clips too.
150 here (SC)
Around here (central Va) around $100 for full body clip. Not sure what a show clip would be. Glad I got my own clippers this spring.
I just paid $85 for a show quality clip. Bathed her beforehand for the clipper, but she used her own clippers and blades. I’m in the Ocala area.
$150 if it’s clean. $100 if I use owner’s clippers, blades, blade wash, blade coolant
150 with bath, 125 if horse bathed (appropriately) ahead of time. I almost always require sedation which is extra.
I charge $125 for a full clip for a VERY clean, dry horse that stands there quietly. I charge $90 for a hunt clip (leaving hair on the legs and front of face). If sedation is required, that is extra.
Most other people who clip around here (Middleburg) charge $150-175 for a full clip.
For those of you who mentioned “this includes bath before hand” are you saying the person doing the clipping gives the horse a bath or the horse is expected to be bathed before?
Also, for those mentioning sedation, do you require the owner sedate the horse first?
I have been thinking about offering my body clipping services on a limited basis, but just wondering what the practices are. I know what I’ve done in the past before I had my own clippers, but I was surprised by some of the answers.
In my area a full body clip is usually $175 for a horse $125-$150 for a pony.
In SE PA I have paid $150-200 for a show clip with and without bathing.
