what is the $$value of a used pipe metal round pen??

It is in excellent condition but not needed anymore

my friends horse has retired and she is selling off the un-needed stuff but this one stumps her

I think it makes a 60 foot pen - but not completely sure

AND
where does one advertise such an item??

thanks for the help

Is there a brand name on it? If so, she can call around and see what new ones are going for (after figuring out if it is, indeed, a 60 footer). If it’s in really good shape she might start the price at full price, or 10% off full price to start with–that way she has room to dicker, if she is so inclined. Frankly, if it’s not too rusted I would think it would pretty much hold its value.

I would put ads up at local feed stores and tack shops and in horse publications (The Equine Marketer) or other papers that have “Livestock” sections. I, personally, would never list anything on Craigslist–too much bad news connected with CL. People getting stiffed for the cost of merchandise (robbed), or “stiffed” (as in murdered). It just isn’t worth the risk!

I sold one for $550 on Craigslist in about 15 min in VA 5 yrs ago.
It was in ok but not excellent condition (a couple bends here and there). I got a lot of responses so perhaps could have gotten a little more.

$700-800. You could probably get more if you’re willing to wait. I’ve seen used ones go for up to $1200. But most are in the lower range.

Yep, I would bet in the $700 range used, easy. I’m looking for one, and have some panels already, and to do it new was figuring on over $900.

Priceless ! Many ways to use one whole or in parts !

Pricele$$ = SO many ways to use one as a whole unit as well as in parts !

  • not much off original price if in good shape ~ IMHO

advertise at tack shops and barns `` it will be gone FAST for $700.00

Depends on the panels.
Are they horse panels, cattle panels, what gauge, etc. Age doesn’t matter as much.

Craigslist would be your best bet. You can do a search and see what others are asking.

I saw someone post one, including delivery and set up, for $1800 the other day. She was rather offended when I linked brand new ones for $850-900 LOL

They tend to hold their value, but it depends how accessible they are to you and what local companies sell them for. Also depends if she needs a quick sale or not…

yeah…is it Pipe or Tube

I’d advertise it on local FaceBook groups. I use them for all kinds of buying and selling (I bought my most recent pony from one and am in the market for another; whichever one I end up with, it will come from one of those ads).

Edit: someone posted a pipe round pen on one of the groups I belong to the other day, and since I am half in the market for one, I checked out comparable pricing of a new one from Tractor Supply. There not horribly expensive new, and given that you have to transport the thing and put it together, and the ‘used’ pricing was all that much lower cost than new, I decided that if I ever get one, I’ll just buy a new one.

I bought 2 gates sections and 34 regular panels from a lady that was leaving the boarding barn and she didn’t want to move them. $100. It was a great deal for me.

Things I noticed after I bought them: 2 of the sections were of a different length than the others and those 2 were also of a heavier gauge. They were a B!T@H to move and set up.

So when pricing and setting up your ad, I would link to a comparable fencing that is for sale now and then go down in price by 10-20%. If you want the item GONE, price it lower than that.
