I am itching for some springtime gardening (although I am expecting to lose interest/energy pretty early on…)
I want to grow some gourds, maybe some other things not routinely found at the local stores.

I love the Select Seeds catalog. Lots of heirloom plants to choose from.
I totally love Baker Creek. They actually have the seeds for the stuff I want to grow. (which to gardeners around here is the weird and obscure) Can you imagine a purple tomato? Egads!!! If you want to grow gourds you don’t need much energy for that, just shove some seeds into a horse manure pile. You will have all the gourds you want come fall. Ask me how I know. Good luck, and happy gardening!

A couple of years ago I bought the Blue Beauty tomato seeds from them. Blue doesn’t begin to cover it! They are eggplant-purple. Gorgeous. And a pretty decent tomato too. They did not disappoint. I kind of want to get the True Black Brandywine, but I really don’t need any other seeds from them… so I’m going to have to think something up that I don’t really need to make the postage worth while. Which is why I always wind up with too much.

OK, time for confessions. I put in about 25 different kinds of tomato plants. I cant even eat them. But my family can. So I do have the habit of going overboard real easy. If you are sitting on the fence on Black Brandywine, DO IT!!! They produced spectacular. And the flavor was out of this world, per DD. We are as a family total foodies when it comes to taste and texture. Hence why we grow so many kinds of everything. If you like cherry tomatoes Sun Gold Select II are also outstanding.
Which is why to quote you, I always wind up with too much.
When I first started gardening I put in 16 tomato plants for me and me alone. Egads! Last year was the fewest ever with 5 and that’s about right. Sun Gold is always one of them. And my grandfather’s variety (pink and similar to Brandywine). Then I pick a yellow/orange and a black and something weird. My favorite "weird’ variety is the green Absynthe tomato but the Blue Beauty is neck and neck with them.
Favorite source for tomato seeds is TomatoFest, everything else I get from Renee’s Garden.
I plant 32 plants for DH and myself. I have some that I can (just tomatoes, salsa, sauce), the rest we eat and give away. DH’s favorites are Green Zebras and Black Krim. I love them all and typically plant at least 7 varieties including the two above as well as Brandywine (2 types), Black from Tula, Arkansas Marvel, Pompeii, Dixie Giant …
Put in the request for catalogs.
I’ll third Baker Creek. For me, it’s all about taste! This year, my favorite variety of winter squash hands down was Marina di Chiogga! And what is more pleasing to the eye and to the palate than a tomato sandwich with a myriad of colors and flavors!! Have fun with your garden this year.
Got a puzzling reply from a company I previously owned a catalog from:
We don’t send out catalogs and we are not placing orders, How can we help you?
:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:
Thanks, I am good, really!

Stokes Seeds. Lots to choose from. Good company to deal with, helpful. Quick delivery.
Just put in an order from Bakers for 18 different seeds, including tomatoes, beans, lettuces, beets, etc. They have some great varieties! If anyone wants to share some seeds, let me know and I can email you my shopping cart list. I have many varieties of tomatoes, beans, etc. and am happy to mail some to anyone who wants to seed swap. Would love to swap something I have for some crazy gourd seeds. : )

So it’s all your fault… my True Black Brandywine seeds came on Monday along with 3 other kinds of tomatoes - because you can’t waste the shipping.
I love looking through Baker Creek but find them expensive. I buy most of my seeds from Remy’s Sample Seed shop,Pinetree Seeds and Tatianas tomato database. I also get a lot in trade.
For trading,I love Tomatoville Forum.
Check out R.H. Shumway’s. You can look at their catalog on line, but I buy something by mail every year so they will keep sending me their GORGEOUS catalog.
