What is your favorite treeless saddle pad?

Just curious for those treeless saddle riders, what type of padding has worked best for you with your treeless saddle?

I need to supplement my Ansur with shock absorbing padding as the trauma padding is old and needs to be replaced (to the tune of $850.00!). I would prefer to add a specialized shock absorbing pad underneath, which it appears would be much less hurtful to my wallet than having Ansur replace the trauma padding!

My horse is very wide and round, so I don’t need any special shimming…just cushion and wither/spine relief.

So, if you use one, which is your fav?

I like the Skito Equipedic pad

It works well under my no-name treeless. I have the half pad with a quilted cover. It also fits well under my non-treeless saddles.

Thinline excels at shock absorbing material. I use one for every time I ride.

I have a Skito, too, but I do not use that for shock absorption…

Have fun!

Thanks! I have a Thinline…maybe I should try it…

These are the pads I have:

Thinline
Impactgel
Traumatech

Perhaps I should try one of these before buying something else…my only concern would be that none of these three pads give any pressure relief over the spine. Not that my mare has a prominent spine…she’s quite round…but still, she does a some sort of wither.

Keep the reviews coming!

Interesting, thanks! I’m considering getting a Skito half pad, but was hoping to get some real-life feedback from those who’ve used them…

When I got my treeless, the Grandeur Physio was recommended. It has great shock absorption and plenty of spine clearance.

Scroll down to the Physio:

Main website for Grandeur (the Physio is called the Vario outside the US).

I love the Grandeur as well…

I like the HAF pad Thinline combo. I’ve also used the Equipedic with a Thinline that worked well. You really should get a pad that is made for a treeless saddle.

Frankly, I would go for a custom Skito if I were you. Call them up and tell them you stats and they will make one for you based on your information.

I don’t like gel type pads at all. I’ve always understood that saddle pressure points on a gel pad are magnified. All that gel displaces when a small concentrated area is pinched.

I use a Skito with my BMSS. In between my Skito pad and my BMSS, I also have a gel pad liner for extra padding. It has worked well for me.

Toklat Woolback with Ultracell inserts. LOVE IT. It is worth its weight in gold

I’ve used both the HAF pads ad Skitos.

If you’re not wanting a really dense pad, I would go with the HAF pad, and they have a variety of styles you can pick.

Otherwise, I prefer like the Skitos. You can choose how thick the inserts are, so you don’t have to go with something super bulky. I used to have one lined with sheepskin and absolutely loved it. Really nice quality pads.

I have ridden in a bob marshal treeless for hundreds of miles with a skito pad.
I did add a leather insert in the pad for more support. They certainly are a well made pad and have a chanel to clear the spine. Never had back issues .
