I love cats. I had rescue cats that were domestic short hairs, all very loved. I had a purebred Maine Coon cat who was absolutely gorgeous. Growing up we had a siamese and I just love the coat pattern and blue eyes. My brother and sister in law have a very beautiful purebred Bengal (the breeder gave the kitten to them for free- very generous)!!! What are your favorites? I have been without a cat since I lost little Stinkerbelle last April (she was almost 19). I would like to get two kittens (preferably siblings) from a rescue. And I think I would really like some Meezers!
My family always had Meezers growing up, but I’ve had nothing stray “domestic shorthairs” as an adult, so I guess they’re my favorite by default. I do have a very cute mutt cat, though.
If I was choosing a purebred, I think it would be an exotic shorthair (Persian without the coat) or maybe a Bombay. But strays always find me, so I can’t see actually paying for a cat in my near future!
I’ve only ever had run-of-the-mill domestic shorthairs - but they’ve all be fabulous, wonderful cats. I wouldn’t trade any of them for anything. All of them came from/were rescued from various locations.
A friend loves her Maine Coons and knows more about their pedigrees than I do about my horses’!
I’m a sucker for calicos and tortoise shells. I currently have 2 calicos and 2 torties. If I had to pick a purebred kitty, it would be a British shorthair or old fashioned apple headed Siamese.
I think I’m a tabby lover for life (not that I would pass on a non-tabby either). My current girl is an American Bobtail - they’re independent, intelligent, and affectionate on their own terms - and I would definitely get another. However, pre-COVID the local CFA branch (if that’s the right term?) would hold a bi-monthly cat shows and I got to meet an Abyssinian/Somali breeder who had the nicest, friendliest, and cuddliest cats I have ever met.
Ragdoll, I love the blue eyes and color point longhair coat with (often) white mittens.
But everybody here is just generic cat, they show up for the free food and medical care.
Most of my cats have been rescue types or strays that needed a home. I love the looks of the longhairs and pastel eyes. But I’ve really come to appreciate my little Motorboat who has brains galore despite her mutt breeding. She’s just so smart and figures things out for herself. Also a
great mouser for the farm. Pucci is a rehomed luscious elderly Persian- orange w/ green eyes.
Lovely to look at but low on the IQ level.
I have a soft spot for ginger shorthairs.
I just like cats in general, but I really love my Maine Coons, they are the perfect amount of catitude and ridiculousness. As for cat colors, I love a brown classic tabby (swirly pattern), although after years of Maine Coons in “brown classic, no high white” I may end up with a high white silver classic tabby just for some variety…
I am a complete sucker for a grey/brown tabby. I have two nearly identical, and a small longhair tabby. But I had a spectacular Tuxedo with perfect markings. He was an amazing cat.
I foster mamas and or kittens. Out of 150 or so, I’ve “failed” and kept 4. I did finally get the Maine coon I’ve wanted for many years.
My favorite kind of cat is orange.
I have that cat toy, too!
My two loves: both were large:
22# sable brown DSH neutered male Kiki, standing on his hind feet he was as tall as my waist.
and my 18# orange tiger DSH neutered male MeowMeow who was almost as long/tall was sadly diabetic then acromegaly.
Both were just the sweetest, most people friendly cats.
Meow would get tested then his insulin on the counter, then wander to my lap to take a long nap while I drank my coffee
Aw, thanks for fostering! Your house looks like fun.
Pictures?
I love all cats. I’ve always have a Meezer in my house! The current meezer is beautiful with long hair. Found at 3 weeks old on a Macy’s storage truck, he is now 11 or 12. I also had great luck with big orange males, they are always the nicest cats. Two outdoor/formerly feral Maine Coone like cats that are gorgeous but require a lot of maintenance. Also have two plain white cats with black and gray hats and spots on their sides … I always think rescue cats make the best pets, it’s like they know and are soooo grateful.
I’ve always loved cats. I love any color, shape and size. I always begged my mother for a cat and she never let me until we moved to a farm. I then had 7 cats on that farm and I loved them all. Some came and went.
I now have a grey and white kitty named Cleo. She is my baby and I love her so much. She will be turning 5 this year. Here she is:
After Rotten Ralph came into my life I became addicted to gingers.
My favorite type of cat? ALL of them. Though I admit to a soft spot for Siamese.
I love all cats! But my favorite are short hair cats. I am not as much of a fan of medium or long hair. Although in the two litters I fostered last year the medium/long hair kitten from each litter was the sweetest and most affectionate! I just prefer the look of short hair and there are enough sweet short hairs too!
