What kind of horse are you?

17.3 hh aged thoroughbred/draft cross mare. Elegant mover. Sound but goes better with injections. Joint supplements a must. Not flashy but gets the job done. Never bred. Safe, sane, smart. Honest to jumps. Prefers solo turnout. Ships, clips and even flies and loves to swim. Fussy about shoes but will stand for farrier. Much mileage left.

16 hand aged mare, kind, wants to please. Well educated, enjoys trail riding, but strong competitive horse in the ring. Gets along well with others, needs maintenance but serviceably sound (most days!). Easy keeper, loves food, no history of colic. A real war horse of a mare. Many good years left.

15.3 petite warmblood mare. Spooky but sensible. Decent mover and extremely trainable. Wants to be an UL dressage horse with an educated and kind rider. Will also jump but gets bored with cookie cutter courses and is on the slower side. Joint supplements are required and body work is recommended. Opinionated but trustworthy

I am a 16hh pony cross. A chestnut mare with chrome. And that’s all you need to know about me.

Aged pony mare. Requires maintenance and special shoes. Not UTD on anything and not good with children.

According to former horse camp coworkers, I’m an old-school shetland. I’m not entirely sure that’s a compliment

16hh draft cross, pulls faces anytime she’s asked to do anything, but a genuine trier if you ask nicely. Kept in a dry lot, because can get at on a blade of grass. Requires special shoeing, regular blanket changes, and breathing is a bit iffy. Long in the tooth so not as athletic as before, but can maintain a steady pace for a while.

14.2hh quarter horse, built like a bulldog. Will go anywhere and do anything - might not be pretty but gets the job done. Not friendly with most other horses, bonds strongly with a few. Sound now, but genetically predisposed to knee issues. Easy keeper, slow feed net a must.

Still frisky ancient roll-poly mini that likes others well enough but prefers solitude, always has.
Lives on air, not very active any more, age finally catching up.
Always handy in a pinch when needed.

Almost 14hh Connemara pony mare. Flashy little chestnut with plenty of chrome. Typical redheaded mare sass and opinions. A reliable trail horse, sure footed as a mountain goat. Got brains to go with all her attitude. No speed or jumping ability. You won’t be the first across any finish lines with her and you won’t win any blue ribbons. But she can trail ride all day and she’ll keep you safe in the saddle. Self loads into trailer. Loves camping. Leave her sit for months and pull her out, she’s good to go. Gets bored in the arena. Intermediate and experienced riders only. No patience with kids or beginners. Will take advantage of them. Has been known to dump riders who annoy her. Loves cookies. Easy keeper- easily gets fat off air. No shoes needed. Vets clean. Will bite vet if given a chance.

Used to be 16h mare, now 15.2 :persevere:
Barefoot & pasture-sound, anything faster than an extended walk is in her past.
Easy keeper… Too fond of carbs, best kept on mainly forage.
Herdboss, but not a bully, will allow others to think they’re in charge :smirk:
Easily kept alone, but will seek out a small herd of like-minded mares. Geldings tolerated, on her terms. No studs need apply :unamused:
Bloodbay in her youth, now gone to gray.

Fjord Haflinger cross, 14.2 mare.
Enjoys a good day’s work, easy keeper, safe around chickens, cats, dogs, other animals, and kids. Cheerful and easily distracted but not spooky. Can take a joke when it’s not about food.
Great children’s horse, can take a joke, but only does what is properly asked.

16.2 senior mare, can still act like a 5-year-old. Once a horse of many colors, now bay turning gray. Numerous old injuries but sound; should pass a PPE. Lots of schooling, tons of show miles, still enjoys competing but best at weekend shows (gets grumpy at multi-day marathons).

*Bonded to old gray gelding; must be leased or sold as a pair.

15 hand easy-keeping roan cob. Unsound in numerous joints. Prefer quiet settings, solo trail rides, and staying warm.

Foundation bred AQHA mare. 14.3, stocky, strong, easy keeper. Chestnut, with all that implies, but does like some people. Low tolerance for idiots. Keeps her shoes on and does not like new ones. Likes to be in charge or left alone, nothing much in between. Good at a lot of stuff but not a champion at any of it.
