Love the Chase gave birth to a full brother to California Chrome early this morning.

Slew I’d disagree with, and actually there is a whole other thread on that discussion. He definitely exceeded expectations. Yet he was out of a strong dam line and by a sire whose brief career was well above average.
Tiznow is a better and more recent example. But he was out of a dam who ended up proving to be a PHENOMENAL producer.
Maybe Love the Chase will become another Cee’s Song… who knows. Anything is possible.
I was debating whether or not to add Candy Ride to the list. He was out of a good producer as well… but I think it’s hard to fairly assess both his sire and female family when the majority of their breeding was done in Argentina. South American blacktype sometimes translates into the North American success, other times it doesn’t. In Candy Ride’s case, it certainly worked out![/QUOTE]
I sold Candy Ride’s sire, Ride The Rails to Argentina for $15,000. So when I was offered a share in Candy Ride for I think $45,000 I passed. If I hadn’t known what his daddy sold for I most likely would have bought the share. Mainly on the strength of where he was standing at the time. Though his bottom line is a pretty good Argentine family, Candy Stripes and Good Manners are/were very well respected sires.
Being by a son of Cyptoclearance who’s only other son of note at stud is Victory Gallop who has since been sold to Turkey did not make one want to jump on buying a share. And the rest as they say is history. Wish I had bought that share now.
