What next for olympic dressage?

Who is moving on at this point?

It’s still the team competition.

Team finals are next Tuesday when they do the GP Special. Great Britain, Germany, Netherlands, Denmark, USA, Spain and Sweden are moving forward. Canada didn’t make the cut.

Then Thursday is for the individual medals when they do the GP freestyle.
Only the freestyle score will determine who wins an individual medal.

But, the top 11 rides not qualified via their teams also move on to the GP Special. Of those riders and all the team riders, the top 18 average GP and GP-S scores move on to the Freestyle and the individual medal.

(Figuring out who those 11 are is an exercise left to the reader, though I may tackle it after breakfast… Of the Canadians, Ashley Holzer will definitely go to the GP-S, and maybe J Brooks…)

No need- if you go to the results on the nbcolympics page, there is a Q next to the score of everyone who is moving on- team and individual.

The top 18 from the SPECIAL move on to freestyle.

Competition format

After the first phase, the Grand Prix, the best seven teams (including any teams tied for seventh place) and the best 11 individuals (including any tied for 11th place) who are not already qualified as team members, progress to the next phase, the Grand Prix Special.

The Team event medals are decided by the total of the scores in the Grand Prix and the Grand Prix Special.

After the Grand Prix Special, the best 18 individuals (including any tied for 18th place) go through to the Grand Prix Freestyle. Riders are selected to go through on the basis of their performance in the Grand Prix Special only.

Performance in the Grand Prix Freestyle determines the medals in the Individual event.
