What, no Hunt Night thread?

I watched the hunt night at Harrisburg and it was so much fun.

Congratulations to Mr Stewart’s Cheshire Foxhounds on the big win.

I’d love to see it too. I saw the team who won Warrenton’s on YouTube. Here is the link to the team win in Aiken, Sept 2011. I was fortunate to be on that one…big black horse, Debonair, in the middle! It was soo fun and not as easy at it looks to keep the distance AND find the spots, haha! My team also had Kathy Nofsinger of LOH and Arnold Bloom of Aiken Hounds.

My winning round in Open Fieldhunters…

The fences weren’t huge, but they look small as my horse is over 17.1h!! He is a REAL foxhunter too …just led the field at Live Oak’s Opening Meet this past Saturday, as he has for years!!

I’ ll chime in…

Truly fantastic show, nice turnout this year. Jumps smaller and course less daunting as last year, but very hunt- inspired and suited to the entries.

And if I may toot my own horn just an itty bitty bit, my own mare and I were second in the Ladies’ Under Saddle- not bad for a little (15.2) mare in a class of 32+, who didn’ t show over fences that night (I’ m 8 mos. pregnant)!!

Can’ t believe more hunts don’ t participate in this great event…the show does such a fantastic pre- party for competitors and hunt members, complete with book- signings, etc., entry fees are extremely reasonable, the facility is SO horse friendly (easy to work off one’ s trailer, easy access to excellent schooling ring, etc…)…I’ m a HUGE fan of this show!

I have shown at Harrisburg for many years, and yes, it is a nice show. But the reason that so many people don’t show there, as opposed to, say, Warrenton’s Hunt Night, is primarily due to the fact that it is on a Monday evening, which then means you are either missing one or two days of work, and really, if you aren’t local, you then have all the gas $$, end up getting a stall, staying overnight, etc. which then doesn’t make the expenses all that low. If it was on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, you would get more entrants. I will note that this year had low entry numbers, though, as opposed to most years, so the amount of entries was not really reflective of the average number of horses that usually attend.

Likewise, jsw, our hunt members and I have a hard time making it to Warrenton, as we have Opening Cub @ 7am Labour Day morning!
