What Sport(s) Would You Like to Try?

If you could go to Olympic camp for two weeks and try any sport (other than equestrian, because we all already do that :D), which one(s) would you like to try, just for fun? You would work with a real trainer and get to compete in a fun day at the end of camp. You could pick any sport, not one limited to your age/build/talent/athletic (in)ability – just one or maybe two sports you’d love to learn about and try.

Which would you pick?

I would pick either fencing or archery, and hurdles.

That is a hard question! My (in)ability is so strong!!!

I think I would like to try archery, because it seems to come with minimal personal injury and seems like it would be fun. But I also think I’d also like to attend springboard diving camp. Maybe 100m running (distance wouldn’t be my thing)

Figure Ice Skating. Swimming.

What kind of swimming would you prefer in our fictional camp?

Trampolining. I had no idea it was even a competitive sport, much less an Olympic one, but how much fun would that be?!

Fencing, Triathlon, Mountain Biking
And in 2020 (when they become olympic) surfing and sport climbing. Although I already sport climb, so that might not count.

The medley. Is that one. First lap back stroke, then butterfly, then breast stroke then freestyle.

Years ago, I would have said track and field and gymnastics (and ice skating if we are including the winter sports).

Now, I have to say that my level of equestrian ability is so beneath that of Olympians, it might as well be another sport. So sign me up with quarts more talent for eventing, showjumping, an dressage!

Bobsledding. I have always wanted to do that.

Springboard diving.

What a great camp!

Canoe or kayak slalom. Looks like so much fun, and the athletes look like they all have a good time together, too.

Starfish?

I really can’t think of any other sports I would do. They all seem so dangerous…

Rowing - but my 50something knees hurt just watching!

Curling for winter - I’m just fascinated by it.

I’d love to try curling. Fun, a mental challenge. Being a trained geologist, I wouldn’t mind taking a hand lens to the stones either!

Actually, that is an easy one for me - I am a senior, so some things are not really in the cards since the old body could not keep up, but I have very flexible hips and think, with my long legs I would be a good race-walker — except I don’t know how to do it and there’s nobody nearby for coaching. Quit laughing.

We are a very sporty family and have done a lot of sports, but I think this is one I could really do at a Masters competition…if I could get to that sports camp.
