What stalls do you recommend

I will be building a 3 stall barn this summer and am starting to make the plans for everything I need. It’s very exciting, but also a little overwhelming. I am wondering what stalls people have used and have liked (or ones to stay away from). I live in Iowa.

bumping in hopes of hearing some suggestions

Priefert

When I was building my barn I compared Triton (made in Iowa) http://www.tritonbarns.com/ Ultimately went with Priefert. Mostly because I could order them locally.

Triton has some very nice options. Since you are in Iowa I would check them out.

I’m putting these here so you can drool: http://roewer-rueb.com/produkte

I think these are the NICEST horse stalls I have ever seen.

I think they don’t have any distribution in US, though :/.

We built our own stalls and just ordered stall fronts.

You can build the stalls into the structure or buy portable stalls that you can move, rearrange as you need or resell later.

I would say, building stalls into a structure gives you the least options to change as your needs may change and they will.

The choice of stall may depend on what kind of horses you would have there and under what management.
For some, horses that can see each other is best.
If you have a horse that is cranky, you may want a solid partition between some of the stalls for those kind, or you can add one later if that is not a common trouble with your horses.

We are still debating exactly how to build our own portable stalls.
Your needs will determine which kind of stalls are best for you.

Here are some our vet clinic just built in their new expansion and are working wonderfully for them.
Each stall has a skylight right over it, that gives much light, but they say that painting the whole inside white is what made a tremendous difference in how light it is in there, wonderful to be able to see the horses well.
The whole front of the stall is the gate:

We used these kits and they have held up well with 14 years of use.

While I like Triton’s product, I recommend against them for the terrible customer service we received.

They were great until we paid, then were unresponsive with questions on expected arrival dates, simple things like promised directions, various other questions related to our pricey purchase.

I have met with a rep from Triton and their products seem very nice. Concerned to see someone had a bad experience with them. Anyone else have any experience with the Triton stalls - good or bad?

We used Triton. Just bought their stall fronts and built the rest ourselves. We had a great experience with them. Found Triton’s customer service to be excellent and prompt. They also sent us some free blanket bars just for sending them pictures of the new stalls after we finished building them.

I highly reccomend stalls that are built in/with the barn, versus a barn with stalls added. A barn with stalls may be less versatile, but the layout will be smoother, they end up being easier to keep clean, and they look much better. Love the looks of the barn Bluey posted.

Mesh stall fronts are my personal favorite. Living in Texas most of the year, airflow is essential. Horse barns can very easily become dim, so welcome any opportunity you can get to add more light. Windows, skylights, see-through stall fronts, anything.

We are currently designing a small barn to build near the house. We are custom-ordering mesh front stalls with duch doors (also all mesh). I hate sliding doors, they are tough to work on, require parts when they break, and they get stuck. Doors that open out can still break, but when they do, you can still get them open. We are going with block walls. I don’t like stalls with the see through sides, too many of them fight through the walls, hurting themselves and tearing the barn up.

We used Triton for our project and had both quality and customer service issues. Send me a Pm if you want details.

We mostly use these three companies for the stalls in our barns:
