what tack did Potato use on Filouette?

Curious about the saddle used, and the bridle–bitless? what kind? and if Filouette was shod or booted? Anyone know?

His saddle was an old All Purpose. It is name brand. I want to say Stubben but I’m not certain. The bridle is bitless. He says he has those hackamore made for him. He once had someone steal his bridle during the pre-ride meeting and had to ride Tevis in a halter! She is shod.

You will note he had minimal gear. I like seeing someone like that. Makes it seems like endurance is not just for people who can afford expensive tack and get all the latest gear and gadgets.

Here’s a decent pic of Potato and Filouette. http://thehorseaholic.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/potato-richardson.jpg

I think I remember hearing somewhere that the saddle is a very old Stubben. Beyond that, I couldn’t tell you what gear he used. He wasn’t at our stop for very long.

Oops, didn’t see your post! I answered Gingerbread’s repeat posting I guess.

I love this picture so much that I’ve saved it and uploaded it to my FB page. It completely embodies “partnership” for me! Thanks for posting it, Praus.

I too liked seeing the minimal gear and it just completely re-iterates the endurance thought of you use what works for you and your horse.

Lazy questions since I ought to do some googling, but does Potato do his own breeding?

Regardless, what is/are Filouette’s breeding/ lines? Crabbet or Polish maybe? I look at her and see Pat Leitch’s fictional Shantih. Beautiful mare and so fresh at the finish.

Are you sure it’s an older Stubben or maybe just a well used newer one? I only ask because it looks like it has a Stubben Biomex seat.

It looked like a Stubben Roxane S with Biomex to me, and some Google sleuthing confirms this theory. Lots more pictures of it here:
