I have two full neck/combo turnout blankets that have been ripped bad enough that I think repairs exceed the value of the blanket.
What’s the best course of action? Strip the hardware and throw the rest in the trash? Any other ideas?

I keep the hardware, straps and normally the tail flap to use to repair other blankets. Sometimes I will cut and keep the part of the blanket on the side below the fill line as repair squares.
Strip the hardware and use the sheet as a project blanket. If you need to kneel on muddy ground, a turnout sheet is the perfect protection from mud and wet ground.
I’ve used it weeding the garden and more significantly to keep half of me dry when leaning into a hole fixing a broken plumbing fixture.
I keep one for parts for repairs and the rest in a pile as a dog bed for their outdoor run - no worries if they get muddy, hairy, wet and chewed on
I use leftover turnout blankets to protect my sensitive shrubs and small trees for winter. Wrap around, stuff with old hay, cinch up the straps and voila!
The rainproof side out to keep moisture at a minimum within.

I use them to insulate around my chicken coop in the winter, and as tarps/sheets for dirty outdoor projects.
Look up horse blanket bags on Facebook. She makes really cute stuff.
I’ve been cutting off hardware and donating to the animal shelter. The dogs love them.
If you know anyone that’s moving, a full blanket can be used to protect your stuff during a move.
Excellent ideas, I appreciate the creativity, You have convinced me. I’m going to continue hoarding and save these for various purposes, it felt really wasteful to put them in the trash.
