The 2Gs has fit some of my horses with moderate to high withers and more round barrels and wide shoulders. They have needed some extra foam in the panels, though for more gullet clearance, particularly those with longer withers (height well into the gullet conformation).
I’ve found that the different styles vary with the way they fit specific horses.
So, for example, the SE02’s seem to fit a more narrow or lanky warmblood or one with a straighter shoulder. It’s worked well for some older jr hunter types and some younger horses that are in awkward growing phases. It did not work AT ALL for my chunky mare with big shoulders and some significant withers.
The 2GS Hunter Mademoiselle works better for the chunky monkey types. I unfortunately have one that’s asymmetrical, so although an improvement compared to other models, it doesn’t fit her correctly and we ended up going off-brand to find her the correct fit.
My SE02 was SO incredibly wide that I had to get rid of it when I got a very chunky wither-y gelding, so I don’t know about that assessment.
Might depend on the year. Mine wasn’t wide enough and sat on the horses withers and they were far from a shark fin.
I just have stopped trusting that CWD creates saddles in any sort of similar sizing. Seems like a crapshoot.
I’ve been following another thread with a poster who is really wanting a CWD, and I’d agree with this. They’ve changed the tree a few times, have so many different models with no clear difference for the layperson to dig through that it’s almost impossible to know if a given saddle might work - and you can’t trust the reps to help!
I’ve resigned myself to trying used pro-panel models from reputable shops or going with another brand. But darn it if the saddles don’t fit me PERFECTLY
