What Type of Seed Heads Are These?!?

I am thinking the more light tan one is Timothy, is the orangey one Fescue? My hay has a ton of these seeds falling off as I feed. I want to sweep them up and save them to seed more in the spring, but I was wondering what they are?

Yes I know it could just end up being a crapshoot and nothing will grow but I thought it would be fun to try! My hay from this guy last year was mainly grass hay, with some weeds and random sticks, no seed heads at all. This year, same guy and the hay is wonderful so far! Both last yr and this yr if I keep it covered it stays green and for 3 bucks a bale and he delivers and helps me stack it I am not complaining.

I could ask him but it is early on a Sunday, so here I am, wondering if any Chrono-ers have input!

Those are orchard grass seedheads.

Agree that the middle is orchard. The first and 3rd one might also be but the photos are not great so I can’t say for sure. None of them are timothy.

Nope, no Timothy there.

I agree with orchard grass in the middle, and some weed on the left. Not clear on the right, but it’s not Timothy. Timothy has a very distinctive see head, you can’t mix it up with anything else.

These grass tops can be either flowers or seeds, depending on when the hay was cut. I prefer hay cut before it flowers, and certainly before it goes to seed.

Timothy identification.

Thanks! @Scribbler I have fescue and some timothy in my fields. I will try to get better pics later on when I put them up for the afternoon. My android hates me!!!

Agree with Wheres my White, the county AG extension can help you with your photo id and further, help you with information as to the advisability of sewing with these seeds. It is what they do, get some well lit, black background detail phots and they should be able to help you
