What was that stuff some of you were recommending...

to calm down excitable/nervous/fractious horses in the hunt field or while showing?

I remember reading a thread about it but I can’t seem to find which one it was.

Here’s the scenario, I’d like to take my mare out this year to do some demonstrations and maybe a few shows sidesaddle. She’s normally pretty quiet at home, definitely “watchful” and a little leery of things that might jump out and get her, but nothing that’s dangerous or something hard to handle. I was just thinking it’d be nice to be able to take that edge off a bit when we’re out and about so things don’t escalate. I’ve had a few people suggest giving her Ace or another sedative but I’m not sure if that’s the best idea either.

And just for a bit of background, she’s 15, she’s been to a fair number of shows, clinics, trail rides, a few mock hunts, lived at a cutting & roping barn etc. so she’s seen a lot and it’s not like she’s “green” with things, she’s just one of those horses that’s a bit fractitious about things.

Calming a Fractious Horse

I think you mean this thread. Very informative…
