what made the owner choose this trainer. convenience and proximity or does the trainer have a history of producing nice , young horses? Is the trainer dressage focused?
You can explain to the owner what you see in the video, but make sure your opinion is well founded and not picking nits, Can you be entirely unbiased? With the prior history and opinion of this trainer make sure it does not color your input, I suspect you cannot.
If you are critical of this trainer, do you have one you CAN suggest to the owner?
I agree with others, what a person desires and expects after 90 days of further training from the start, needs to be tempered with what that particular horse is capable of. I would not pound on a horse if he was a square peg and the hole is round. Is this horse bred for dressage?
Owner sounds like they do not have much in the way of knowledge tools but they do need to have a working relationship with the trainer and that includes the trainer talking to them about the training , progress and issues.
sounds like the owner needs to be more present in the process, perhaps visiting and watching a training session every week and start to learn things and develop their eye
