I would love some delicious ideas for drinks to put in my flask.
I like things that are a little on the sweet side.
Any special concoctions out there?

Weather dependant:
Today - Virginia, 8 am meet, nippy early but warming - 1/3 port (the cheap sweet stuff), 2/3rds water.
Last Saturday - 90 degrees in the shade - ice water
Cold weather - 4/5ths port, 1/5 Jack Daniels.
Mmmmm.
Bourbon and Peach Schnapps is always good. The colder it is, the more Bourbon you use.
I got some Blackberry Schapps that I’m enjoying - lightly sweet but with bite that helps clear the pipes on these dusty hunting days.
Peach Schnapps immediatly came to mind from my foxhunting days. Warmed me to the toes.
Me likee everything!
Moonshine…and you can use it as a leg rubdown or brace after the meet!! Watch it on the cuts tho’…it’s gotta sting! :lol::lol:
Baileys Irish Cream if you really have a sweet tooth.
Southern Comfort if you’re Virginian and southern by the grace of god!!
Virginia Gentleman if you hunt with Fairfax!
Any fruity brandy or even fruity dregs!! 
In this weather; I’m a thinkin’ maybe Mojito’s would be right!! :yes: Nope, on second thought…save that for the car followers to drink…they can really work up a thirst ya know! :winkgrin:

Its a traditional hunting drink, the invention of the 10th Duke of Northumberland and it’s 50:50 malt whiskey and cherry brandy.
The first one slips down and so does the 2nd and 3rd and then you’re at serious risk of being totally p***ed and falling down or off your horse!
My 2nd choice is port:

But that’s not so sweet. More warming and the best thing ever on a cold winter’s day or if you’re suffering from cold and can’t breathe. It totally blows out the cobwebs! Its 3:1 malt whiskey and Stones Green Ginger Wine.
Ginger wine? I wonder if I can order that at the ABC store. Same thing with cherry brandy - though I think I’ve seen that for sale there.

That sounds a bit like something I used to drink when I lived in Germany (near Bremen). Cold and damp year around.
I have been meaning to stock up for the winter - this is a timely thread.
I have been looking for a liquor called Exotica but have never been able to find it in the US. It’s a local liquor made in Bremen (or used to be) made out of kiwifruit and other fruits like strawberry.
It was a dangerous drink - went down like fruit juice. Would be wonderful to have out hunting.

if you can’t find that pour clear liquor (vodka, moonshine, etc.) into some real fresh cider in the proportion you prefer. Gotta have apples in fall and winter. It is like a religion.
Beer or mead would be great but you have to have a volunteer with a pitstop for that. Too foamy for galloping!

Yes. I relocated to Michigan. I experienced culture shock at finding liquor at grocery stores, gas stations and truck stops?! Whole different world out there from ABC land in Virginia.

Hey Swan, what’s all this America-bashing? I have travelled all over the world and lived abroad and think the U.S. is pretty swell. Bashing your own country always comes accross as quite unsophisticated to the more jaded ;).
Not all states have state run liquor stores, heck, in Michigan you can buy liquor at the grocery store on Sundays. Shocked us southern visitors.
J Swan lives, as I do, in a Commonweath, rather than a “State”.
It is our good fortune being amongst the first thirteen .
We suffer the LCB and State Stores, prices are high, and selection is small. Yet, I can go to Maryland or West Virgina and find fine wines and spirts in a Krogers, at far better prices, but you have to drink it there, as it is illegal to transport is across State lines. So never do that :winkgrin:

That may be true, but US Airways didn’t have any problem allowing us to pack good 'ole Kentucky bourbon in our luggage on our return trip from Rolex. We even ask them IF it was allowable, and then we asked just how many bottles we could bring! They basically told us that we could pack as much as we wanted in our suitcases!!! Now, honestly, these were some younger employees who probably just hadn’t learned all of the ropes yet.

Well in the other commonwealth (Massachusetts) there are no state/commonwealth run liquor (or “package”) stores. NH has 'em, though.
I just can’t bring myself to drink and ride…
Maybe there are a few hipper ones I have no idea if some States have State Stores, I was under the impression it was a Commonweath thing, live and learn.
There is a difference between a drink and a nip.
