It’s hot (high 80s) and very dry, but not humid. The 10-day forecast doesn’t show any drastic change, but one never knows with Kentucky weather.
Definitely jeans (or shorts) and t-shirts! It is KY, which has crazy unpredictable weather so I would include rain gear and maybe a sweatshirt. It has (finally) been cooling off at night, which has been bliss!
Right now its in the high 80’s low 90’s for the rest of the week.
Looks like on the extended forecast that a cold front will pass through friday/saturday and that will drop the temps to the high 70’s low 80’s.
That was from Weather.com’s extended forecast.
Also all our grass here in Lexington is a nice yellow/brown color. We haven’t had any substantial rain since the end of July
On and off T storms are always a possibility but fall is generally very dry and still warm. Temps this week near 90, highs after Sunday in the 70s with cooler nights. Average first frost still a month away but 40s is not out of the question for a low.
I’d go with jeans (which are acceptable even in fine dining establishments). Maybe 2 polo type short sleeved shirts, 2 long sleeved medium weights and just a light jacket. You can buy a sweatshirt if you have to but no need to haul all the arctic gear. Otherwise light layers will be the way to go.
They do have stores there, like Wally World and that Equine Expo thing is at the outlet mall. I wouldn’t overpack.
You can’t have umbrellas in the Horse Park, so definitely some type of packable raingear. Because you never know, it’s Kentucky. At least some type of jacket for a cold snap. Other than that, jeans and t-shirts and walking shoes.
Almost a hundred here today and looking hot for the next week. I am so looking forward to cooler temperatures in Kentucky. Might be wearing long sleeved shirts for the first time since Rolex this spring.
If you have a pair of waterproof shoes or boots that are comfortable, take them for sure.
So better lighter stuff than longsleef things ? COming over for the 3day and am sooooo looking forward to it. Yea !
alexandra,
Weather in Lexington can be quite variable.
Best to bring different things that you can layer: short sleeve/long sleeve/pants/jeans/shorts
sweatshirt/light sweater/ light jacket(waterproof) coat/sneakers/waterproof shoes.
And many socks! Nice to bring an extra pair to the park if it does rain.
Also, bring a pair of riding gloves, you might appreciate them early morning on xc day!
The temps are supposed to be:
high: 20 degrees C
low: 5 degrees C
And supposedly dry.
This week the temps have been 30C to 10C.
Cool in the morning and night and very little rain.
Enjoy your visit, the Horse Park is amazing, and Lexington has many wonderful sites to see!
So come prepared!
