What's your experience with Fungasol by Absorbine?

Any caveats to its use? ie: dont’ wash with chlorhexadine prior, only mild antibacterial? keep out of the sun?

Used this for the first time today and within 2 hours the white legs looked a bit red and felt a bit warm. Not sure if I’m seeing a reaction or if it’s just that I may have clipped him too close and the pink skin is showing through. I used an adjustable clipper blade and it slid to the ‘short’ setting.

Whats your experience? I’m dealing with a very mild case of dew poisoning. Thanks.

What you are describing could be normal. Clipped wet legs can look that way. Hope it is.

Some horses can be sensitive to tea tree oil. That might be part of why you see some skin irritation.

If you are only going to do one product while you figure out what’s causing the redness, I’d stick with the chlorhexidine, but I do think Fungasol is a good and effective product. I use both in combination for gnarly scratches.

You wash with chlorhexadine scrub, then apply Fungasol? (when you use both in combination)

I wash with chlorhexidine shampoo, dry legs with towel and then fan, and then spray Fungasol.

After years of using desitin and other ointments, I tried Fungasol last year when mare’s white legs had a nasty bout of scratches. Was tired of the mess that the ointments made. Fungasol did help. I also used an antibacterial shampoo and made sure absolutely dry before applying the Fungasol. But it still didn’t clear it up completely. What cleared it up finally was treating with zinc oxide spray. SmartPak carries this made by Leovet. Zinc oxide is the active ingredient in desitin, without the messy cream. Benefit is the white spray makes her white legs extra white, and stays on for a few days. I may use this come show season!

Using every few days this year as a preventative, and seen great results!

It has been a lifesaver for my big black horse- Us it on his tail and rump and neck every night or he rubs like crazy

When I sense dew poisoning I put them on antibiotic short term such as 5 days Uniprim
