When 5" is just not enough!

It occurred to me that folks with TWH and ASB might also be looking for wider bits. the link below is to a moderate curb bit with an adjustable width.

I would like to see one of those in person, seems like a good idea, but the proof is in getting hands on and playing with it.

For info this bit http://www.ridingwarehouse.com/Reinsman_Seven_S_Mullen_Bit_w__Independent_Shanks/descpage-RSSB.html measures a generous 5 1/4" toward a tight 5 1/2" I may be on the point of ordering it!

You know lot’s of horses just can’t abide having a bit sit ON their tongue and most snaffles and mullen mouth bits do. This is why they are much happier in ported bits. I have had two Arabs that were this way. I do love many of the Myler bits and these two were the first horses I had ever trained that would settle into a French Link snaffle or a Myler Comfort Snaffle. I finally tried a Myler ported kimberwick and TA DA! happy horse. Second horse was the same way.

It appears to me that the Myler bits that I have tried run wide. Both of those horses fit 5" bits in other brands but a 5" Myler was wide and a bit sloppy on both of them. There are stores that have rental programs on Myler bits that let you try before you buy. You might want to try renting a Myler 5" ported western bit to see if it is actually wide enough.
