where are the best places to sell are not very used Passier saddle

I have owned it for a while but have not ridden for at least 10 years now

so Ive decided its time to sell

The saddle is the all purpose model so I think it would be desirable for hunting

Im really at a blank on what to do with it and how to get a decent price

thanks for any help

Passers are one of the best made saddles - that being said, for some reason they are not the most fashionable with the show set.

There are masses of used saddles around, yours is ‘dated’ - it is not really, but perceived as that amongst the trendy set.

I hunted all my life - on three continents. My last hunt saddle was a Passier A/P
tough as nails, fits almost anything with its cutback head (those with or those without withers). We ride in the rain all.the.time, but here in the Pacific Northwest. Many times we have gone into the Fraser River to sandbanks and crossed where there are considerable currents, saddle gets soaked, water into the boots, etc., deep spots where the horses had to swim and hounds having difficulties and getting washed downstream until a Whip catches up with them. Just laid it out away from direct heat and good to go for next week. Lots of adventures.

I have seen the inside of a Passier - all hand made, each piece of leather stamped, thin pieces, thicker pieces, laid on top of each other. A tree that flexes.

So, in this day and age, I would take the advice of a consignment shop, be prepared to take the 25% loss on commission and move it - preferably in Hunt country.

Thanks for the info.

Consider sending it to Middleburg Tack Exchange in VA. They sell a lot of used saddles and cater to the foxhunting crowd.

Unfortunately you need a COMFORTABLE saddle to enjoy hunting. The Passier is not.

Matter of opinion. Mine is a lot newer than the OP’s, but is plenty comfortable and secure.

Definitely a matter of opinion.

Send it to The Galloping Grape in Warrenton… we move a ton of saddles, including dressage!
