I don’t remember seeing his offspring around but he was marketed as a hunter stallion around here.
There are a lot of preconceived opinions about Trakehners. Years ago, I rode my Trak in a clinic. The clinician asked for his breeding, then said, “You know what Trakehner means in German, right? Pig.” Might as well have flushed that $150 fee down the toilet.
I will say that as a hunt horse, my Trakehner excelled. He was bold, brave, athletic and level headed. I rode him in a bitless bridle (side pull) and had more control over him than many of the people hunting in lots of hardware.

We have a lovely 26 year old Trak. We have had him since he was 16. The most trusted horse in the barn. SANE!!! He will save your A$$ every time. He evented to intermediate with a pro years ago. My 9 year old daughter took lunge line lessons on him. Sensitive? yes but not over reactive. He was classically trained and he taught you how to ride with light consistent contact.
I think they are misunderstood and mishandled. We went to a Heather Mason clinic years ago and he was amazing… My guy goes around in a Nathe others would have bitted up for control. He was fine but it takes understanding to have these horses. They have heart like a Tb and will work so hard. The work ethic is amazing too!

I’m not normally a huge Trakenher fan but we’ve got an absolutely gorgeous one in for training. 4 YO. He’s done the baby hunters (won), did some baby jumper classes in Tryon (won) and we took him to a pre-novice event last weekend where he…won again. I’m trying to talk his owner into keeping him in the hunter ring - he’s incredibly balanced, has beautiful changes, moves beautifully and is a really cute jumper.

What’s the breeding?
He’s by the trakehner herezensdieb out of a rosenthal mare. I’m not smart enough to do pictures but super typey and super pretty. I joke he looks like Black Beauty.
