Aside from Schneider’s, where are we buying silver show headstalls? Would prefer to buy a quality used one but fine with new too. I have looked on my favorite second hand tack website and facebook but haven’t found anything. Just doing local shows and a smaller AQHA shows so don’t need anything super fancy.
When I was showing all-around AQHA and Paints at local, state rated and even national regional shows, I got headstalls and halters from two online sites: Kathy’s Show Equipment and Dale Chavez.
At Kathy’s, the Santana headstalls and halters are less expensive because they’re silver plate not sterling and, as my trainer says, from 10 feet away you can’t tell the difference. The leather quality is very nice and often there are slightly used or discontinued styles available.
The other site I like is Dale Chavez. Granted, he came more from the Arab show world and his stuff isn’t for everyone. But I love it. His silver plate usually has more of a vintage look and some of his designs border on being too frilly. But personally I love his assortment of buckle designs and most of his stuff also looks nice for ranch classes, too. Leather quality is great.
