Where are you selling/shopping for horses with FB being shut down?

I list thoroughbreds off the track for a few friends and our rehoming efforts have tanked since facebook has shut down. I am currently in FB jail, even though I was very careful not to put price, etc. I have uploaded to RRP webpage, but you’re only allowed two pictures. MeWe has been a joke. Where are people selling their horses anymore?? More importantly, where are people SHOPPING for horses?

I am looking on Dreamhorse and will only look at ads with a good photo or links to pics and video. Tired of scrolling through FB ads to find the horse is clear across the country. Then there is no price, info , video etc. Tired of having to private message people who may not respond. I want to look in a specific geographic area.

There are plenty of sales ads on FB. I have a farm page and list my sales horses there.

There are ways around it, I see them everywhere. However, if you are advertising horses of any quality/high price point than say 5k and under, I would suggest Dream Horse, Equine Now is another popular one.

PS> Equine Now has a free photo ad (1 photo included).

BigEq.com

Dreamhorse, although some people won’t look at ads that don’t have photos.

I find the filters on Dreamhorse are easy to use - especially the distance search - and no other sale website has as many. Of course, I am not presently shopping!!! I swear!!! I just look for fun. Or so I tell myself.

Dreamhorse has always been my favorite sale website.

I’ve also used Equinenow, Equine.com, horseclicks, in addition to Facebook.

Personally, I’m fine with having to request a photo and video if the horse is <$3k. >=$3k, I expect the ad to have a photo. >=$5k, I expect the ad to have a video, but I won’t pass on a horse if not, I will email to request one.

I found my dream horse on Dreamhorse =)

So did I!!

Honestly, I hope Dreamhorse see’s a major uptick in ads since the FB ban. It was always a better platform IMO for searching. Maybe not for the amount of vid or photos you can show, but the search is SO much better than FB.

I agree the filters are great. I’m not horse shopping and I still check out Dreamhorse regularly.

I like Warmbloods-for-sale.com but liked the old format better.

FB is the worst for horse shopping. You cannot search a range of heights or prices or locations - you have to be super specific. And hope seller put any detail in their ad. Or know the names of all the local groups or farms to search through. Individually. What a pita.

Easy for sellers tho, so they keep trying to use it.

dreamhorse and warmblood sales are sites I browse. On dreamhorse it’s $20 for a 90 day photo ad - it’s really not that much

I’ve had the best luck selling in equine.com. I do like Dreamhorse.com as well. And yes, advanced search criteria is great. Wish tack could be on a site like that.

I also found my dream horse on dream horse 10+ years ago.

dreamhorse, Equine / Equinenow and proequest.

Im part of a few private horse sale groups on FB and follow a few people who resell off the track. Canter website as well, I don’t think they are UTD like they use to be.

Dream horse, Equine, equinenow, proequest,

Canter when they keep their site UTD.

Im part of some private FB groups for resale, 2 for my state and then a few TB resale pages.

I found a nice horse on Dreamhorse after months of asking horse friends and acquaintances to keep an eye out did not result in anything suitable. Lots of off-the-track horses but that was one of the disqualifiers and that was all that I was hearing about.

This is where I found my Oldenburg mare.

People I personally know who are in the business of rehoming OTTB’s got the rug pulled by FB :frowning: At first they were allowed to continue because they are an actual brick and mortar business, but then even that wasn’t good enough.

Now they still post on FB with the photo and simply direct them to their website that they set up which contains the rest of the photos, videos, state, price.

I used to participate in breed rescue, now that FB is shut down that’s not easy. Although the kill pen scammers are still allowed to post, which I think will increase the number of horses who can’t get networked into homes before.
