Looking for any dealers that will be carrying Sir Oldenburg frozen semen for next year, does anyone know where I might buy a dose or two? I am really impressed with this stallion, his videos and his offspring videos. Would love to also hear more about his temperament though (and temperament of his offspring) as well as the quality of his frozen semen. Thanks!
I enquired as well - he is a lovely stallion!
The Canadian distributor is out east - NS I believe. Email me - sales@truecoloursfarm.com and I’ll send you the email and contact info for her
Pacific International Genetics, Dr. Paul Mennick in California has distributed it for Team Nijhof in the past.
Thanks TrueColours, I just found them a while after I had posted this. I have kind of sent an e-mail (it is composed but for some reason not sending at the moment <grrr!>) so will hopefully get it sent off tonight and hear back. I am assuming then they are the only ones distributing in Canada? Anyone heard how his semen quality is?
I looked up a whack of information on him when I was looking to breed my 2 mares to him, and then ended up buying Panoramic instead to breed to them …
Here are a bunch of video clips of him and his offspring that you may not have seen:

And some email responses on him as well:
Thank you very much for your kind email. I only have a dvd with Sir Oldenburg going in dressage. He I have no jumping film or pictures of him, because as far as I know he never jumped and was only used as a dressage horse. Please let me know if you wish to recieve the dvd with the dressage film.
We bought Sir Oldenburg as a retired show horses. He had a tendon injury when we bought him and I know that he has been competiting at prix-st.-georges level in dressage. So I do not know anything about the way he jumps.
The only thing I know that as a 3 year old he got a score of 7,74 for his jumping ability in the german performance test.
Yours sincerley, Jeanentte. www.team-nijhof.nl
We have send frozen semen to dr. Martha Mellish and she can forward it to you. As an attachment I’am sending you the lfg breeding contract for 2011. The breeding fee is euro 900,
Hope this helps!
Wow, thanks! I sure LOVE his babies, what a very elegant collection of offspring! I am assuming the euro 900 is a LFG as they seem to offer most of their stallions that way, correct?
Thanks again for all the clips, I will be taking a closer look at all of them!
I cant find my email from Martha Mellish - I’ll look again - but I do recall it was a LFG. They would keep sending you frozen until your mare was confirmed in foal
I had fun collecting all of the clips and really liked what I saw with all of them as well
For me - the “crap shoot” part came in whether or not he would throw a hunter type mover and jumper for me. The type and movement I loved, I felt he would cross well with both of my TB mares, but his jumping score at his inspection wasnt impressive enough to convince me that he would consistently throw good jumping offspring so that was where I was making a bit of a leap of faith in that regard … Some of his youngsters DID jump well so that helped too!

this farm has 3 foals by Sir Oldenburg
ESPERTINA, EXALT and Forte
I found them when I was looking into doing a custom with Sir Oldenburg. She is in Canada but I think she gets the semen from their daughter in Virginia (I think or something like that) here is the link for the VA supplier http://keswickequineclinic.com/frozensemen.html
She is super nice and I have some emails that I could post here but I can’t log on from my work computer I will have to wait until I get home.
I sell it as I broker semen for Team Nijhof. I’m still updating my website, but it will definitely be finished by November.
Do you think he could produce an eventer when crossed with the right mare?
