Where can I find a BIT BLANKET?

I have a Bit Blanket electric bit warmer that is much admired by a friend. I’d like to buy her one for Christmas and have looked high and low but can’t find them. The website appears defunct. I messaged the owner on Facebook but haven’t heard back. I’m striking out. Any ideas?

There’s a phone number on their FB page that might be worth a shot: https://www.facebook.com/Bit-Blanket-136504243065558/

Oh, there are a few responses on that page that make it clear they were no longer being made as of this time last year :frowning:

It seems like it would be really easy to make something similar with two rechargeable handwarmers and some minor sewing skills.

Or with rice. Like how homemade heat packs for sore muscles are made. Well, assuming your barn has a handy microwave.

I know someone who wraps a velcro piece of sheepskin around the bit to keep it warm.

just the sheepskin, no additional heat source.

She is trying to be nice to her horse and I didn’t have the heart to explain it to her.

this Etsy site sells something similar…

Jeffers Pet Supply has this…

I appreciate all the replies but I’m looking for an electric bit warmer. I don’t want to give my friend a project as a gift.

You can buy the premade microwave ones on ebay or etsy, no project required.

I bought one off of ebay for myself and a friend for a gift. Mine is filled with corn. Nuke for 1 minute, wrap bit, get ready, bit is warm and it stays warm in your pocket for your hands, too.

That’s the thing–no one makes an electric bit warmer anymore. You’ve got the kind that works with a chemical hand warmer, and the kind with rice or other filler that goes in the microwave. Lots of options available there.

Your only option for buying one new might be to find a small tack shop that still has one kicking around in their stock. Also check ebay.

What about a heating pad that you plug in? Just fold it over your bit to warm it, no need for buying hand warmers all the time. I know it isn’t very gifty.
