I have an opportunity to pick up some frozen semen on my trip to FL next week. I am looking to rent a dry shipper to transport the frozen semen with. I will be able to store it with my vet once it is here, but don’t have one to transport it from Fl to NC. Anyone know where I can rent one?
By dry shipper do you mean something you can keep dry ice in for shipping? While I haven’t dealt with frozen semen, I work in biotech where we ship cells on dry ice all the time. That’s as simple as a styrofoam cooler and enough dry ice to keep the cells covered while it’s in transit. As for liquid nitrogen, would love to help there, but I might get fired for trying to smuggle a dewer out of work!

What she is looking for is a frozen semen dry or vapor shipper (dewar) like this one http://store.sementanks.com/sc43v-vaporshipper.aspx. Liquid nitrogen is poured into it and then saturates the absorbent. The straws are stored inside in such a way that it helps keep them from breaking and maintains the proper temperature for days. A styrofoam cooler and dry ice isn’t going to work, especially when dealing with such an expensive substance
