Where can I shop online for American bred young hunters?

Hunter types are not always bred by “hunter” labeled breeders. Breeders breed for a type but what comes out is sometimes not what they expect. There are more than you think lurking about. Any farm you come across that breeds well, may have what you’re looking for.[/QUOTE]

This. We have always bred for 3 correct gaits, good jump, good temperament, soundness and “pretty”. Not surprising several of our youngsters have done well as hunters.

But maybe we need to create a website just for selling high quality hunters. I know we may be re-inventing the wheel but it’s very frustrating not having a place to sell horses. I know my horses are fabulous but I don’t live near a top show area which of course makes my horses cheaper but how do we drive interest. Always the problem.

Where are you in Mi? I am in Ada and waiting for a Sir Caletto foal out of my Jupiter mare!

There are several such sites already…in the past I have used BigEq.com and Exchange Hunter/Jumper in addition to the traditional Warmbloods-For-Sale. There is also was an in-utero and young sporthorse site that was set up a few years ago but I don’t think it really took off since there are already so many sales sites.

I also found it difficult when I was shopping for hunters/jumpers for my kids and some of the sites had so many lovely horses that were just out of my price range. Word of mouth and referrals were invaluable but spent more than I would have liked on the travelling :(. It took over a year both times!
