Where do you suggest to look for ads for horses for sale these days? Thinking about starting to look… Facebook was so easy to window shop till I started to get more serious, but now I’m not sure where to go?
There are a number of dedicated websites that have continued to function even as some sellers migrated to FB. Honestly, those websites are much easier to use than FB as far as searching by region, breed, age, price, etc.
The two that I know are still operational are Equine Now and Warmbloods for Sale. I’m sure there are others, and presumably breed specific like WB for Sale.
I’ve been primarily shopping on Craigslist, equine now, and Dreamhorse. I’ve always liked Dreamhorse because you can search for “warmblood” or “gaited” without specifying breeds.
What Scribbler said, plus DreamHorse and HorseClicks. Depending on your discipline, there’s also sites like BigEq (for Hunter/Jumper type).
We still do a bunch of sales on Facebook. Just don’t put price in the ad. Worked so far.
A lot of people are finding ways around the rule on Facebook. I’ve seen people share a link to sale ad on a free website, Make the listing information a photo and add the post with only photos, no text, say it’s a halter for sale, simply provide photos and text details about the horse without actually saying it’s for sale or mentioning a price.
But the other websites I usually use are
Equinenow.com
Warmblood-sales.com
Dreamhorse.com
Equine.com
Horseclicks.com
Big Eq
A lot of the sale pages from Facebook have moved to Mewe.com
I find Mewe to be difficult to sort through and not nearly as easy to use as Facebook but there are plenty of horses for sale there so I followed the herd.
Some of the sellers have also moved to youtube.
