Everyday breeches - I stack them on a shelf separate from my jeans that are stacked on the same shelf. I have a big 8-drawer dresser and one drawer is all my short sleeve riding shirts/polos, and another drawer is my show/clinic breeches and shirts. My nicer sun shirts are hung up along with the rest of my clothes, and I hang my show jackets up in a garment bag. For winter, I don’t differentiate riding/vs other use shirts, just have a bunch of long sleeve Under Armor or whatever in a drawer and a variety of vests hung up, some of which I ride in. My barn coats are probably what get the most “horsey” but I still just hang them at the entryway and they don’t seem to transfer too much dirt or smell to non-stable apparel.
I have a closet and a large armoire at home. Most everything in circulation that doesn’t need to be hung for work or to keep wrinkles away goes in the armoire. My riding clothes are dispersed among my others - breeches in one spot, turtlenecks and under layers in another, long sleeves in another, depending on the season. I tend to group the riding stuff into their own “clumps”. I store all my socks in a hanging divided “thingy” in my closet. Riding socks have their own slots based on weight. I store my riding gloves, various outerwear layers, headbands that fit under helmets, silk scarves, etc. at the barn in a locker. I do have a fleece jacket that goes back and forth but that is because I lost my barn fleece and just haven’t gotten another. I store regular paddocks at the barn but my warmer paddocks at home because I don’t need them most of the time and will sometimes wear them to work in snow/mush. I store mud boots at the barn but my super insulated mud boots at home. I keep spare socks and older paddocks at the barn.
I usually pack clothes for riding based on weather into a bag and take it to the barn to change into after work. Or, I change at home and then put on paddocks and change my good to “barn” outerwear at the barn.
The boarder/trainer tack room is temp controlled so everything is warm in winter when I need layers. I have a lot of space at the barn and I tend to spread out with everything. I think things might be different if at another barn.
Clean breeches, tops are in a separate area in my regular closet.
Coats & Vests have their own closet off my laundry room.
Something that can be worn again, goes in the dryer with damp microfiber towels, just put on the air (no heat) setting. This gets all the dust off and they get hung in the laundry room or in with my coats/vests.
I do laundry a few times a week, so I don’t have more than 1 or 2 pair of breeches that get reworn.
God, I wish I were that disciplined!
I have just the opposite problem. My wife looks in my closet and asks “Where are your good clothes?”
