Where does one advertise race horse prospects online?

The owner of the barn I board at has gotten into breeding some race babies, and asked me to help her with online marketing. I would know where to advertise a sporthorse on Facebook and websites, but I’m kind of at a loss for race babies. I am internet savvy but not racehorse savvy.

I don’t want this to be an ad, so I’m trying to keep it general-
these are jockey club registered yearling fillies, born in Ohio, that she is looking for 20k each for.

Is there a particular site you’d recommend that I can direct her to?

Starquine is probably the biggest site geared to just racehorses. Blood horse has classifieds although not sure how many people really look. If it doesn’t work privately the Fasig Tipton October sale might be a good market for them. Plenty of KY trainers run at Belterra and Thistledown.

I would agree with everything said above and only add that since the yearlings are Ohio breds, you might want to try marketing them on the Ohio TB Breeder and Owner website. I see that they have a section for classified ads.

http://www.otbo.com/

Perhaps handride.com?

I’d love to know the success rate of some of these online services catering to race horses…

Me too. I couldn’t believe how expensive stare quite was when I looked into it.

I would put them on dreamhorse too.

I would von tact the Ohio tb breeders association for ideas

There is a new website www.thoroughbredcatalog.com that is more targeted to horses being entered in public sales but they have a private sale section. You can post photos and video and it is only $10 per horse.

I have browsed on Starquine and HandRide in the past as well. I doubt posting on a non-race oriented site like Dreamhorse will get much attention from folks who are looking to race.

You could also post fliers at the racetracks. People are getting more tech savvy but there are many who won’t be looking online.
