Where does one buy papaya tablets?

My horse has been on bute, now on previcox…vet wants something for his tummy, but he is a notoriously suspicious eater and will veto anything that tastes, smells different, he also will not eat alfalfa cubes or pellets, which would help. :frowning: She then suggested Papaya tablets (after I nixed her suggestions of ALoe juice or Papaya juice). Anyone know where to find these? TIA

Googling comes up with multiple sources, but omeprazole or ranitidine would be a much better option…

I second the Omeprazole as I was just doing some searching this AM for
ulcer prevention after bute and I think papaya juice is too mild a stomach soother for what bute can do.

If the papaya has been processed, chances are the enzyme (papain) has been denatured by heat and will no longer work.

Sorry just reread your post. Why did you veto papaya juice?

Go to the health store and look for papaya concentrate that has not been heated. Mix with water and pour over feed or give it to them to drink. My horses have loved it in the past. http://www.amazon.com/Dynamic-Health-Papaya-Puree/dp/B004WSK3YE

He’s very, very, VERY finicky…if it smells like anything but grain, he won’t eat it. I may try the juice and just syringe it. It makes him angry, but at least I know it’s getting into him, and one of his friends didn’t finish it off for him. Thank you.

In regards to the omeprazole suggestions, thank you, but at this time…that’s not what the vet recommended.

I found 500 count bottles at Whole Foods.

You might try searching Amazon if you don’t have a natural foods market near you.
