Where my Arabian peeps at?

He is well bred but I’m toung tied when people as me is he polish/spanish/egyption/russian lines. I hate to call him a fine blend because it makes him sound like a lower end wine. I suppose this is a whine of sorts.

One of my big pet peeves is that people put too much emphasis on papers when they should be putting it on the horse. There are great grade horses and there are bad papered horses and a horseman should be able to look past a slick grooming job and see the horses strength and weakness (they all have them)

The arabian horse association is so hard to deal with that I have given up trying very hard to get his registration papers transferred to my name. If you got the horse without papers you might as well consider it a grade horse because the AHA Will-Not-Work-With-You!!! To the point where if the owner died I believe that the AHA would demand to see the will and a death certificate, maybe even the body.

Teehee—I think we need some more brainstorming for COTH clique names.

Like COTH Arabians OMG-There’s-A-Squirrel Clique

Other ideas?

I’m partial to the Snort-n-Blow Crew :encouragement:

I like that one!

I like “Snort-n-Blow Crew”

I was thinking of something along the lines of “getting our arab on” but couldn’t come up with anything that didn’t seem extremely politically
incorrect.

Although, now that I think about it “snort” and “blow” have some OTHER connotations as well (having to do with lines and mirrors). :open_mouth:

See if these work. I don’t have really great photos available. The top is the gelding and the bottom link is the mare. I have another one of her from last summer

That one is pretty flattering. She was in good shape there and the angle makes her back look better than it is.

I’m terrible at this kind of thing.

I like your blog. I’ve started at the very first post and am working my way forward.

She is a lovely, lovely girl, with an intelligent kind eye.

What kind of saddle are you using in the pics? It looks like a skito pad?

Diamond M Arabians

Somewhat of a tangent, but since the Arabian experts seem to be gathered here…

What, if anything do you know about the former Diamond M Arabians in SK, Canada, owned by the late Bill and Lillian Mantei?

Among the “Straight Egyptian” Arabian horses they owned or bred are Shamruk + + , * Soufian, Moniet II Mandil, Bint Zi Bene, Egyptian Belle and Egypt’s Love Song.

The names mean nothing to me, as I have never been involved with Arabians (though I rode a Trak x Anglo Arab for many years), but I wonder if they mean anything to any of you.

Thanks

Skito pad and Bob Marshall endurance saddle. Love it!

Not to me but I roll more towards the Sport Horse stuff

I’m not an expert in any way, but I know how to find the experts: Egyptian Arabian folks actually have their own forum at egyptianbreeders.com. I’m sure the posters at the ABN forum would also be able to help you at forums.arabianbreeders.net.

Does anyone reading this thread have DataSource? Perhaps a DS lookup would help? I’ve not been able to justify the expense of buying a subscription to DS yet. I’m not sure if DS even covers Canada.

Trakehners [sp?] are honorary arabians, same with the Anglo-Arabs.
I hope that this helps. Let us know what more you need!

I’ve heard really good things about the Skito pad and the Bob Marshall saddles.

ummmm…I like Arabians, but I don’t want to be sailing under false colors (how appropriate!) here: I bought my horse because he was an Appaloosa. It has been an education dealing with the Arabian half. Said education includes a broken arm. Sigh. I used to event, so I’m not deterred by an, ah…lively?, horse, but I sure was shocked not to get the usual laid-back Appy temperament. (Really, what did I expect? I worked 5 years for a man who raised Arabians - mostly Polish racing bloodlines). I guess since I’d been riding Appies since 1977 - eventing, h/j, dressage - I totally discounted the differences between Arabians and Appaloosas.

Someone above said my horse must be “a force of nature.” They’re right! On another thread, a reader in Poland commented that he looked “full of muscles and power.” Uh-huh!! Got it in one.

I work and board at an Arab farm. I love going out to bring the horses off of the pasture when they all come galloping up, tails flying and slide to a stop in a neat half circle around me snorting and blowing.

Doesn’t scare me at all. Any other breed and I would wet my pants.

That means that they like you! Cool!

I didn’t feel very good today and just wasn’t up to riding, so I chose just to have some bonding time with my boy instead. A sweet horsey neighbor posted in her Facebook status yesterday that she loves how Tril lights up when he’s around me–that made my day. I figured he could use some more time just hanging around with me and being herd buddies–as long as he remembers I’m lead mare.

Good morning y’all!

This is a line from an article on a (sadly recently deceased) Arabian dressage gelding. I thought that it describes my horse (and maybe some of your horses, too) perfectly:

The owner/rider described her horse thusly: “He has a penchant for recreational spooking.”
