I know a good first flight horse is worth his weight in gold, but I think the same would be true of a good third flight/hilltopper horse that is totally safe and sound?
How would one go about getting the word out for such a gem (type of horse you could put your child or grandmother on, yet young and fit?)
Foxhunters online would be one place to start. Has the horse hunted?? A Masters approval about a horse can be very nice to have in your pocket.
And yes, there are always folks wanting a safe, sane hilltopper horse.
Thank you, I will check that out.
And yes, the horse has hunted (and is currently cubbing/hunting with a third party). I live too far to hunt regularly myself.
Update: I have joined the above mentioned site but cannot for the life of me figure out how to post on there! Can someone pm me with tips on how to do so?
Just put the FOL address ( Foxhunters OnLine: FOL@foxhunters.org) in the “to” space and write your message and send. A letter from your hunt will give your ad some credibility. FOLers tend to be disenchanted of “wannabee prospects”!! LOTS of good hunt people there, though. If you post on the usual…Dreamhorse, Equinenow, Equine.com… make sure you use “Foxhunter” in your headline. It is as hard to find “real” foxhunters as it is to sell them. Good Luck.
just my 2 cents!
I think campaigning him is the best advertisement. Send him somewhere where he’ll go out with many hunts. Somewhere there is a concentration of hunts.
I also suggest hunt websites.
And of course…COTH’s advertising is the very, very best!!
