Title says it all. We have started putting in a course to train horses over and I want to make some jumps with brush.
This is no solution for you–but a couple of years ago we needed brush for a show jumping brush box. Our subdivision happened to be holding a bring-your-big-junk-to-the-giant-dumpsters event. One full dumpster had an artificial Christmas tree 'way up top, far out of reach–but there was a discarded ladder on the ground next to the dumpster. I figured it was a Sign from Heaven, and indeed the dismantled Christmas tree branches made a dandy brush box.
Fake Christmas trees…as mentioned…or volunteer to remove some nasty cedars from a farmers fence line or pastures!! The cedar lasts for ever!!
I bought rubber brush for $5.00 at a tack sale. All of it was in a huge bag and it is very natural looking and looks great for a brush box or wall or a roll top. Where you would find this at is a mystery. You could try a drama club as they might use this for scenery.
I would not use an artificial Xmas tree because the branches are made of steel that could easily penetrate a horses leg or body if they got in wrong.
ContureTB: The thread above this one " What they are calling “brush” these days, max heights" they are talking about the plastic/rubber brush. I have posed the question of where one can buy this stuff.
Someone just posted in a recent thread that her husband was a course designer, and where to get it, and now I’m blanking completely on which thread! I’ll try and search later-- I think maybe it was maybe, though?
That was me Highflyer, this is what he (and many USEA/USEF builders) are using these days. It ain’t cheap! But it does last:

I just put an order in, thanks for the link. I built a steeplechase fence for our back field and it looks like that should work great. This natural juniper is now brown.
