I’ve decided that my TB/Friesian dressage horse needs “Fun Fridays,” so we’re going to start a little jumping. We need a jumping saddle, and a saddle fitter recommended (after seeing a bunch of saddles on him) a 17.5 inch, wide, Black Country Ricochet. Other than FB and ebay, any ideas on where should I look for a used one?
What about contacting a Black Country rep and asking if they have that size/configuration in their used inventory? Reps almost always have a bunch of used saddles in their truck. And even if they don’t have what you need, they can keep an eye out for it, or contact other reps in hopes of making a sale.
Since you know what size/width you need, it may be worth looking in the UK. I found that Black Country and other English brands are more common and can be found for much less money over there, even with the exchange rate and shipping. I was able to find my current jump saddle for $1300 (lightly used) with shipping (retails for $2200 here, and I couldn’t even find a used one!). My favorite FB group is “Eventing - UK”
I’ve been keeping my eyes on Trumbull and Pelham - in the small world of black country saddles, they’ve had a number come through
Black Country lists used saddles on their website.
I second Trumbull Mtn. Tack. I’d reach out to them directly and not rely on what is posted on their website.
Look up PreLoved. A UK site. Has lots ok BCS saddles
