Where to Find an AQHA Hunter

Hi there! I am looking for recommendations as to where the best place to find an AQHA horse suitable for the working hunters/EQ rings would be? I am new to the AQHA community… I realize this is the Western section but I figured since we are talking about Quarter horses this might be the best place to ask.

Pleasurehorse.com will have sales ads, as well as the usual internet sites. The hunt seat horses are lovely, but they don’t always have the conformation to make good jumpers. They have beautiful big sweeping strides, but not the shoulder freedom to get the knees up.

Try the pleasurehorse website, they are allowed to run ads. Lainie De Boer is a well known AQHA hunter trainer.

Go to some shows, see who is training and showing in the classes you are interested in, talk to them and their trainers.
The well trained, entry level horses you seem to be looking for generally sell by word of mouth, as people move on to more competitive levels.

Where are you at? Most big barns pass horses down on their barns once they are established. A lot of hunter barns have then in their barns. Just usually don’t advertise it. However most of the ones winning on the aqha circuit were hus horses and transitioned over. But it’s always a gamble who will and will not work out
