Where to find headstall with iron conchos?

Looking to match this style. All I can seem to find are either a rowel pattern or cow head patterns.

Ok, I am totally new to western and western tack, but I was just looking at this headstall - http://www.ebay.com/itm/Circle-Y-Iron-Star-Floral-Old-Timer-Headstall-Reg-/191649721545?hash=item2c9f36acc9:g:EJcAAMXQWzNSf3L9

Is that kind of similar? Sorry if I am way off track!

And now I just reread your post and I think you trying to match the concho design! I just saw the iron concho part. Sorry!

Yeah, I am trying to match the conchos on my saddle. Would be nice too if the bridle had a basket weave pattern too. So far I am coming up empty on all fronts.

This fellow may have them or make you exactly what you wish:

Keep scrolling the next pages of conchos to see if you can match what you have.

For a bridle, you may want that silver detail on the buckles?
He does that too.

He is very good, most everyone in the rodeo world and ranch world around here has some of his spurs, bits and all other kind of such.

Higher end saddle makers order their stuff from him.

Hi,
Have you tried Jeremiah Watt’s website or places that retail his work? Ebay usually has a good selection. He makes many different styles of conchos, bits, etc. so you may find something that works.
The mass market stuff is of nice quality and priced well.

do you know the saddle’s maker? I would contact them to ask if you could purchase matching conchos.

If not I agree, both Jeremiah Watts and Campbell Bits and Spurs do very fine work.

If you can’t find a match and don’t want to do custom, a barb wire like this blends well

find them at www.outwestsaddlery.com

It was made by Circle Y. I have contacted them, waiting to hear back. This saddle was a limited edition from the early 90s, so I don’t know if they would be able to make something to match any more.

I was hoping to find something like this: https://www.equestriancollections.com/western-horse-tack-equipment/western-bridles-headstalls/western-bridles-headstalls/cashel-browband-basket-headstall-with-conchos?gclid=CLnn7YGJy8oCFYOEaQodUmIB4w

But that bridle is way too dark, and the buckles aren’t quite right. I guess I do mean buckles more than conchos. I would like the hardware on the bridle to match the conchos on my saddle as closely as possible.

I seem to remember having seen a bridle with basket weave tooling, maybe on Coolhorse?

If not there, maybe Smith Brothers?

You will have to look, I have a fierce headache today.

Hmmm. I am confused.

Are you wanting conchos that match the ones on your saddle, or a bridle that matches your saddle’s tooling? Or a bridle that does both?

If matching the bridle and the saddle is the goal, you could…

  1. just buy a bridle that works, and get extra conchos, and change out the ones that are on the saddle now.

  2. buy a full set of new conchos (+ a buckle for the bridle) and any bridle & your saddle can be made to match.

  3. find, or have custom made, conchos and a buckle that match the ones on your saddle now, put them on the bridle of your choice.

The conchos on most bridles and saddles can be changed very easily.

Found it, this one eared, basket stamped bridle:

The one I saw was a browband bridle, I expect same brand made it, you can call them and ask about it.

Here is one like you want, first one:

If that basket stamp is not quite like yours, keep looking, there are some others out there.
Here, our local saddler would make one to match any tooling in a minute, a bridle doesn’t take long to make:

He made one for me and spur straps with my saddle tooling, a saddle he made for me years ago, on it.
Those were a gift from a friend.

You can add special buckles or conchos to any bridle.
You can darken the bridle with neatsfoot oil.
