Where to find reputable Andalusian crosses

I’m interested in purchasing an Andalusian cross (mainly for a bit larger size and my modest budget) but not sure where to find reputable sellers. I know a little bit about the breed, but I’ve never owned one or been around them. Where should I go to find people knowledgable with ammy-friendly stock? Missouri/Illinois/Kansas/Arkansas/Texas/Oklahoma area.

Samantha Kidd has some really nice ones for sale on the east coast

I have an Andalusian/TB cross that was bred by the Llop family in Geneseo NY. She is not tall, but is solid and has a brain that is to die for.

If I where shopping for a Half Andalusian I would definitely investigate with the registry that registers them
IALHA https://ialha.org/ . They have FB page and I am sure if you put an ISO up you would be overwhelmed with responses. Also on FB there are a few sales pages specific to PRE & Lusitano’s. You should become a member of them. I see full and crosses on theses pages all the time and you can do an ISO.

PRE Horses USA, Andalusian/Lusitano US & CA ONLY, These are sale pages

PRE & Lusitano Owners Forum This is not a sale page but you can find owners with experience.

Lusitano & Iberian Horse Club This is a mixed page

This may not interest you but there is an (Iberian Horse Rescue Network) page on FB as well.

I just had a friend on a budget who purchase a really lovely PRE X Morgan cross gelding he is 2.5yr and came from a remote breeder in Canada even with vetting and transport he worked into her budget he has been here about 3-4 weeks and is turning out to be all she had hoped and more. His temperament is just amazing so smart and calm the perfect young horse for an AA solid bone excellent feet good gaits and nice size/ pretty.

Have no idea if they’re reputable, but in Central Michigan…

What are you looking for specifically and what is your budget? I might have something for you.

I’m surprised no one has mentioned Aztecas. Not sure how many there are in your area, but if that is the horse you are thinking of, Aztecas are a nice choice.

Yes, I am really interested in Aztecas. I know much more about quarter horses than I do Andalusians, in terms of temperment. What does the Andalusian bring to the QH crossing?
I don’t have a big budget at all - maybe 5k. I’ve had TBs all of my life but age and injuries are catching up to me and I’ tired of riding defensively. It would be so nice to have an all arounder. I can handle a little personality, and I prefer it over a complete kick ride, but I really am not enjoying the consistent spooks I’m dealing with my current horse.

I second checking into Canada. I purchased my mare in southeastern Ontario. Mid-high four figures for a 2.5 year old with minimal training though the dam is a proven eventer.

Not sure cost of shipping but I sold a mare who ended up going to Nevada from Ontario and apparently the shipping was reasonable and only took a few days…
