I’m going to be in Wash DC for a very short period. I’d like to go to The Old Habit, Middleburg Tack and The Smithsonian.
Any other can’t miss horsey things I need to put on my short list? How far are Middleburg and The Old Habit from DC?
You’re looking at about an hour drive in traffic if it’s reasonable. Warrenton has a lot of beautiful horsey things that other folk can tell you about.

I’ve been meaning to go myself! Just driving around M’burg and Warrenton are a treat. Quite different than AZ
When are you coming? We in the Warrenton area could organize a fete!!!

Around the 16th of July. Wish we were coming during hunt season so that we could cap with someone!
If you can go to the Inn at Little Washington ( http://www.theinnatlittlewashington.com/ ) The food is remarkable and about 20 minutes from Warrenton, Patricks food is fantastic.
If you come the 16th, I’ll bet a number of Warrenton folks might be up for lunch or something.
Indeed, the Inn at LW is in fact the best restaurant in the US (only 5 diamond, 5 star in the nation.) But, uh, minimum is $150 per person, not including wine or drinks or tax or tip. :o)
I’m in!
Horsepeople gotta eat! I’m always available to accompany hungry people anywhere!! Plenty of good places to lunch in M’burg or Warrenton. Or even in Marshall! If you wanna visit some hunt kennels; I’m sure it could be arranged!

How Long?
How long are you in town? Will help us plan your days. As Wateryglen suggested, Warrenton has many horsey sites including Horse Country for absolutely correct hunt (if expensive) hunt stuff as well as some very nice horsey stuff. Can’t forget the other end of the scale in Saddle Liquidators in either Haymarket or Middleburg.
Just go west on I 66 and I think the middleburg exit is #39… Take the exit for The Plains/ Old Tavern… turn right off the exit… toward The Plains… go about a mile or so into The Plains… turn right at the stop then a quick left past the BP station and you’ll go on a lovely drive through some of the prettiest horse country anywhere… eventually you’ll come to Middleburg…
Exit Number
The correct exit number for Middleburg is exit 31. You take 28 to get to my horse or 27 to go to Hunter’s Rest. If you turn left at exit 31 it takes you down to Rt. 17 where another left will take you to Warrenton.

oops, thanks!
No Poblem
I learned to pay attention to things like that when I was in High School and my family moved from LaGrange, GA to Atlanta. My mother could go anywhere, she just couldn’t get home again. If I didn’t pay attention to the turns, street names. etc., we would probably still be roaming the Atlanta suburbs.
Ditto Morven Park!! Middleburg Tack Exchange is a great place to shop as well, in case it hasn’t already been mentioned!!
