Where to market an OTTB these days?

I am curious where folks market OTTBs these days. It had been a while since I’ve sold one. I used to use equine.com, but that sight doesn’t look as active as it used to be.

Thanks.

Facebook groups. That’s how I’ve sold all of mine.

Well, shoot, I don’t use Facebook. :slightly_frowning_face:

I think it’s an app outside of facebook too, but OTTB United or maybe RRP has a sales board online?

You are talking about one that has some training, not one right off the track, correct?

Do not feel bad about not using Facebook. Facebook does not allow animal sales and they have cracked down on horse ads so anyone still selling there has to be very creative.

There are several big groups with numbers in the tens of thousands.

Facebook is hands down the best place. Otherwise try Sport Horse Nation (Eventing Nation), instagram, youtube, etc.

Facebook went from cracking down hard to not taking down anything. OP, you can always just make a very basic account with a generic name and just use it for that purpose.

Or you can have a friend post an ad for you.

If you’re not going to use Facebook, then essentially you’re not going to use the internet. A few people will still use BigEq.com or Dreamhorse.com, but the volume is nothing compared to that on the Facebook sales pages.

Yeah, my past two BigEq ads have resulted in a whopping three inquiries, so I stopped spending my money there.

And if memory serves, it’s not super cheap…something like $99 for 6 months? Granted, this is a pretty small investment to promote a five or six figure animal, but when the Facebook audience is bigger and the ads are free…well…

Exactly. I’ve even paid for the more expensive option—same results, and that’s for horses fairly priced from $10k to $80k.

If its an ottb - fb

Thanks, all. I guess I’ll have to find a friend to post for me. I appreciate all the responses! And, yes, this horse has had training. :slightly_smiling_face:
