Where to post horse for sale

I come from eventer land, but have a horse who would be better suited to jumpers. Where is the best place to list where H/J riders would see? Have listed him in the local FB horse sales pages. Do people still post on Dreamhorse, equinenow, etc? I know a lot of horses are sold by word of mouth, but most of my contacts are eventers/dressage riders.

Thanks in advance.

Proequest or BigEq. BigEq seems to have more horses on the east coast. A lot of people use Facebook groups now too. You can find some discipline specific ones.

If the horse is in a higher price point, Exchange Hunter Jumper is a good site. Otherwise I agree with BellaFortuna’s advice. Facebook groups are super popular. Just don’t list or mention price! Facebook doesn’t technically allow animal sales.

Big Eq is my favorite.

There is a Facebook group called Hunters, Jumper & Equitation Unicorns that gets a lot of traffic. Just, as @Momateur said, do not use the words “for sale” or any variation on that and do not list a price. People use many creative ways to indicate price or a price range without directly mentioning price.

And a plea from a chronic horse shopper - please include the location in your ad. That way you won’t have to waste time replying to my PM asking for location only to have me say, “Thanks, but I’m not willing to buy off video and I don’t have the time or budget for a trip to Timbuktu.”

Another vote for Facebook! I’ve found and purchased all of my horses there. The group listed above is great Hunters, Jumper & Equitation Unicorns, and if your horse is on the younger side, another great group is Young H/J Prospects in North America. There are also a lot of ISO ads you can browse through and post into.

I found two of my horses through their stand alone ads and one through an ISO that I posted.

Adding on to this to say please include a price range. Mid 5s, Upper 4s, etc. It is such a pain trying PMing people to find out a horse is ridiculously out of your price range

If you include a price or price range in a clear way, Facebook will remove your add and suspend you temporarily.

I still think the Facebook ban on horse/livestock sales is incredibly silly. Granted, it’s their playground so they get to make the rules, but there is plenty of other stuff on there that is far, far more of a threat to society than people with significant disposable income trading large sums of money for 4-legged money pits, lol

If you say Up5 or use the carrot emoji or whatever (which is what most sellers are doing now) it won’t flag it. Some groups use price codes too.

Yes, this. For example, “2 carrot emojis comma 3 carrot emojis starting with 2” very clearly indicates that the price is between $20,000 and $30,000 but does not in any way catch the attention of the Facebook filters. There are lots of ways to clearly indicate a price or range without actually giving a price.
