Where to sell an old buggy?

A friend has a one horse buggy taking up space in her hay loft and would love to find it a new home. Any ideas on where these things get advertised for sale?

Thanks!

craigslist or draftsforsale.com… DFS has an equipment section…ebay also can be a good place.

Find out more and then list!

If its something desirable, try selling with photos on the various club sites. Another option, drag it to the various Carriage auctions held around the mid-Atlantic region (Martin’s Carriage, Wilson’s Carriage Auction or that big one in the Tri-State area of Virginia.

Yeah I agree too as it’s one of the best online marketplaces, this site will help you sell your old buggy

Craigslist has some sticky rules for submitting your post there so carefully read TOS n rules first otherwise your post gonna ghosted (not alive)

Try whinny.org also.

Antiquecarriages.com; carriagemart.com

Good suggestions. Thanks everyone. First step is cleaning it up, taking pics and identifying it…I know nothing about buggy’s and neither does my friend

Then you will want to be VERY careful, do NOT take much apart. Buggies have left and right side things, and they can’t be changed. Wheels need to stay on the CORRECT corner of the vehicle, not interchangable.

I would NOT suggest you do much in washing the vehicle, pressure from hose could remove valuable paint or ID marks. Wood parts, wheels of buggies are not designed to be wet with no paint protection, they can warp badly very fast. Vacuum can do a lot for dust removal, but be careful with old fabric shredding with suction or getting dirt in your eyes with blowing dust out.

Sometimes you can do best with a long-haired, very soft brush, in removing old dust and dirt. I think they are called “bench brushes” and available at hardware stores or even the Dollar store with a dust pan.

I know, really hard to clean up much that way! You just make things visible, dustless as possible, expose any maker names or marks to photograph.

Collectors want “original finish” on the vehicles. While users want to know how it was, but will be removing all that old finish to give it a new look when they drive it. So you sell the buggy “as is”, let the buyer make their own choices.

goodhors, thats what I was thinking.

No serious cleaning and for sure we are not going to take it apart! It’s just dusty, so I am hoping to just find somthing with a label or name of it anywhere for ID purposes.

My mom collects antiques and her first rule of thumb for me was to NEVER use any cleaning products on them!
