Hi, I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for places to sell used show clothing or tack. My local stores that do consignments cater to an English crowd, and while I used to love eBay, its become a bit scary. Most of the the stuff is nice customs, worn at the big aqha shows. Has anyone had any success with any online consignment places or websites? Thanks so much
I’ve bought and sold several pieces on Showtime’s website. They are really great to work with, and all items have sold pretty quickly. Also, Show Me Again is a good place to use. I have several friends who have bought and sold on TackTrader, but there you’ll have to deal directly with the buyers, and some people don’t want to do that.
Thank you saddleup-I was wondering about showtime-good to hear you had a good experience. I am wary of tack trader and Craigslist and such-seems like it would be easy to get scammed and then have little recourse. Thanks again!
You can download their consignment form from their website and just ship your items to them. I let them price my clothes, and I felt they were, if anything, higher value than I would have thought…and everything’s sold pretty quickly…some on the first or second day they were listed. Obviously some people check every day to see what pops up new in their size, so it’s an active site. A couple of times Kay called me with an offer from someone for less than the listed price. Once I said yes, the other time I said no. No problem.
Facebook has quite a few sites to list them. Search western show clothes, tack, etc
Facebook groups have been a good place for me to sell some western tack. If its something decent you usually get at least a few people wanting to buy. I always do pay-pal and ship. I don’t generally like to arrange pick ups (it can be weird/awkward/ potentially dangerous).
