Where to sell

My Mother-in-law passed away and we now a a plethera of hunt prints, bronzes, and other fox hunt related parephenalia that we have no room for. This includes hunting clothes and boots.

We don’t mind driving to Virginia with a truckload if that’s what it takes. It truly is a truckload. Too much to try to ship.

We don’t think there is much market in the St. Louis Area and we have already donated enough stuff to the local hunt club for their silent auction that they won’t need to solicit from anyone else.

Anyone have any ideas on who to contact that would either buy the stuff outright or take it on consignment?

We really don’t want to make the effort to sell it piece by piece on ebay or anything like that.

Oh please sell it on ebay! I’m not from Virginia and I neeeeed foxhunting things for my house. Need I tell you.

You’ll have the best luck on FOL.

I don’t think we want to try to ship stuff individually. There are too many breakables, framed hunt prints and fine china pieces. Clothing I agree on FOL but there is not so much of that and more of the breakable type things.

will miss bill and jean

for those who dont know, painted’s in-laws owned a tack shop for what must have been 50 years. I expect it is quite a collection. the basement had a complete leather working shop. they dont make machines like that any more.

there are people who provide e-bay drop off services called auction stores
I never used them, and I would check references.

here is one of many

I would contact live auction houses. Many hold live auctions along with online bidding. They may even put together a horse-themed or hunt-themed auction based on your collection. And they’ll advertise it to all their previous buyers who have shown interest in that type of stuff. I’ve bought from Dawson & Nye (in NJ but I’ve followed their live auctions online). They’ve done horse themed auctions before. I’m sure there’s something similar there close to you.

If you do consign it all to an auction house, let us know where!

Yes! Please! I collect hunt tea sets and cups. Sounds WAY too interesting!

You could try contacting Martins Auctioneers

They do several HUGE carriage auctions in Lancaster area PA and some more in California, every year

They also do specialty auctions

I know they have a lot of hunt/riding items like books and prints and china at the carriage auctions and they do estates of horse or carriage related items at their big auctions

they would also know who else to call if they are nto the right connection

and they are very nice people too.
